“Libby’s Holiday Rose”

Here is a great mulled wine recipe that we are serving our winery guests this season:

one bottle of Mountain Rose
2-3 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
1 large orange, sliced and cut into quarter sections
1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamon
1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
2/3 cup brown sugar (or to taste)
1 cup lemonade

Tie up cloves, apple pie spice, cardamon, and coriander in a paper coffee filter or cheese cloth with a long, sturdy string. Heat and stir the lemonade and brown sugar until a simple syrup is formed. Add the spice bundle, orange slices and cinnamon sticks and simmer on low heat for 8-10 minutes. Add a bottle of Mt. Nittany Winery’s “Mountain Rose” and continue to simmer another 8-10 minutes (do not boil). Enjoy!

“Libby’s Blueberry Christmas Glogg”

one bottle of Mt. Nittany Winery’s Blueberry wine
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons orange zest
1 cinnamon stick
6 whole cloves
4 to 6 cardamon pods
4 whole star anise pods
15+ golden raisins
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1” peeled and sliced into thirds

Add all ingredients except vanilla extract to a pot and bring to a simmer over medium/low heat, stirring occasionally. Do not boil! Stir in the vanilla extract. Turn off heat and cover with a lid. Let the Glogg set in pot for about an hour or so. This will allow the flavors to develop. The only thing left to do now is enjoy a mug!! Cheers & Happy Holidays!
