Red, White and Blueberry: What to Drink on July 4th
From burgers to fried chicken and apple pie, come the July 4th holiday many of us will be feasting on a typical American menu, hopefully sourced from the great local farms in the centre region. And why shouldn’t the wine be as local as the food?
The 4th of July signifies celebration and a wide variety of outdoor picnic-style foods. Our holiday tables will feature grilled meats, including hamburgers, hotdogs and steaks, and a variety of salads, like potato or coleslaw, and grilled corn on the cob.
Our picks for wines that will complement many of these picnic-style foods include Tailgate Red ($10.99), with it’s light, fruity taste. Best served chilled, it makes a great wine spritzer. For white wine we suggest Proprietor’s Select White ($12.99), a crisp, refeshing wine – great for summer sipping. Our Blueberry Wine ($12.99) will round out your red, white and blue theme, or try our 2011 Vignoles ($14.99), a double gold medal winner, which pairs well with desserts (Mom and Apple Pie!) and makes a fabulous Sangria.
