Tours & Tasting

A visit to the winery is a wonderful way to spend part of an afternoon in Happy Valley. Whether you want to stop by to pick up a bottle for dinner, stock up for those Penn State alumni parties, or just enjoy a tour and tasting, Mt. Nittany is a short, scenic drive away from the heart of State College.

Your route will take you by the quaint, historic village of Linden Hall, through farmland and fields, and up the mountain lane to our winery on the side of Mt. Nittany. As you approach along a narrow wooded road, the view opens to vineyards and the Tussey Mountain range in the distance. Follow signs to the tasting room on the upper level of the chalet-style wine building. Our staff will be happy to offer you a free wine tasting and assist you with a wine purchase.

The Tasting Room on the upper level of the chalet has a cathedral ceiling and is furnished with antiques. In addition to 20+ varieties of wine available for tasting and sale, we offer our logo t-shirts, hats, glassware, wine carafes and coolers, local food items, and a complete assortment of winery accessories. A spiral staircase leads to the winery below and double doors from the tasting room open to the covered deck and springfed pond.

During your visit, you may taste wine (free of charge) during regular business hours, or pre-arrange a tour and tasting with one of our knowledgeable staff members. Group tours conducted by winery staff are available year-round with advance notice. The fee charged is $5.00 per person and includes a tour of the winery, wine tasting, and a tasting glass etched with the Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery logo.

A short walk from the tasting room you will find our spacious banquet room and meeting facility. The Vintners Loft is a lovely, private room with views of the pond and lower vineyard. The Loft is the site of special winery events throughout the year, including food and wine pairing events, wine trail weekends, and our annual Harvest Festival.

    A Diamond in the Woods
"We visited your winery this past weekend and found a gem in the woods. We, my husband, sister and brother-in-law enjoy visiting wineries throughout the Great Lakes region. Out of the many we have visited we enjoyed yours the best: the atmosphere, the scenery, and especially the wine. Thank you!"

    Beautiful Location, Warm and Welcoming
"What I like most about Mount Nittany Winery is the beauty of the location - there is a very warm and welcoming feeling the moment you step out of your car. The great selection of wines makes it hard to limit yourself to just one case!"
    - C. Pullin, PSU Class of 2010

    A Special Homecoming
After a visit to the Mt. Nittany Winery, we decided it would be fun to use a sampling of the wines for our next big alumni function. The bottles on the table that evening made it an extra-special Homecoming for all those who attended.
A few weeks later, we returned for a weekend getaway and visited The Tavern and saw that Mt. Nittany Winery wines were on the menu there, too.
Just one more reason I love State College.

Perfect Introduction to the World of Wine
"Going to a wine tasting with friends was a fun and perfect introduction to the world of wine! Thank you, Mt. Nittany Winery!"
